Changes in DUI Law coming August 1st.

Scott Moriarity

On August 1, 2012 there will be changes in Washington State’s DUI Laws.  If you are charged with a DUI in Tacoma, Pierce County or anywhere in Washington State you need to be aware of these driving under the influence changes.

The most significant impact of the new DUI law deals with electronic home monitoring for repeat DUI offenders.  Starting August 1, the court will now have the authority to convert the mandatory imposition of home monitoring into more jail time.  The court can convert 15 days of EHM into 1 additional day of jail.

There are numerous other changes that can affect those charged with a DUI, including the length of license suspensions and ignition interlocks.  If you, or somebody you know is charged with a Pierce County or Tacoma DUI, an experienced DUI lawyer should be consulted to learn how these changes will affect your DUI case.
